Apple manufacturing partner Wistron is setting up a plant at Peenya in Bangalore to manufacture iPhones.
While Apple declined to comment on the news, the report quoted industry sources as saying that production at the plant will start as early as April 2017
Apple CEO Tim Cook met India’s Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi back in May 2016 and since then Indian Government has been insisting the Cupertino-based giant to start manufacturing in India.
Apart from Apple, the Central Government is also in talks with Chinese handset manufacturers like Xiaomi and OnePlus.

Apple had sought government permission “to import and sell its certified pre-owned iPhones in India; manufacture and sell its certified pre-owned iPhones in India.”
